Deutschlandstipendium
Germany · German federal government & private sponsors · Bachelor's & Master's
A merit scholarship awarded by German universities to high-achieving students of any nationality, funded half by the federal government and half by private sponsors.
Why our counselors picked it
- Monthly stipend, paid on top of other income
- Open to international students
- Apply directly through your German university
Funded by: German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) together with the awarding university
What it pays for
Around EUR 1,000 a month for twelve months, set by the university, plus mentoring and support with study-related costs. It is cash support only: tuition is not an issue at most public universities, but you must already hold a confirmed place at that university.
Who can apply
- Bachelor's Degree
- Master's Degree
Application window
Each university runs its own selection, in one or two rounds. For the October 2026 to September 2027 funding period the application closed in mid-June at the University of Passau, so expect a deadline in June again next cycle
For Bangladeshi applicants: The exact monthly amount and the number of awards are set by each university, so read that university's own call rather than a general page. It is the only large German scheme open to Bachelor's as well as Master's students.
